Frederick R. Parker

1912 – 1984

Frederick R. Parker, M.I.N.A., served his apprenticeship with Berthon Boat Co., Lymington, and was Chief designer to Frederick Sheperd, M.I.N.A.. During the Second World War he was a design draftsman at the English Admiralty and later became a Lloyds Surveyor. He held positions at Dorset Yachts, Co., Poole, and Woodnuts, before starting his own firm in 1948. During his career he designed hundreds of boats, power and sail. \nA few of his designs were built in series of fiberglass during the 1960's, but it has been said it was not a material he favored.
