Founders Don Lees and Gunther Heuchmer. (First known as G.H. Fibreglass.)\r\nActually there were 2 Compass Yachts. One in New Zealand had an\r\nassociation with Compass Yachts Australia. Many of the boats were named after points on the compass. The Australian operation produced the Northerly, Westerly and Southerly; the Kiwi operation, the Easterly.\r\nJohn Maurice and Lisle Hewitt owned the New Zealand company and built the\r\nSOUTHERLY 23 here, too – the first GRP keelboat produced in New Zealand. The\r\nEASTERLY 30 was also produced in both yards around 30 boats here and 50 in\r\nAustralia.
