Macgregor Yacht Corp

MacGregor Yacht Co. was founded by Roger MacGregor in 1961 as part of class project while he was an MBA student at the University of California. Located in southern California. The first boat was a small catamaran, but the product line consisted mainly of small, trailerable sailing yachts, from a 15-foot (4.6 m) catamaran to 17-foot (5.2 m) pocket cruisers, up to 26-foot water ballasted trailerable sizes. MacGregor has also built a 36-foot catamaran, and a 65-foot ULDB cruiser-racer. The MACGREGOR 65, with more than 100 sold, was one of the most successful boats of this size ever built.\r\nEarly models were called VENTURE's, but after 1969, all models were called MACGREGOR'S. \r\nLater on, the only model in production was the extremely popular MACGREGOR 26M, a 26-foot (7.9 m) trailerable sailboat that can except a large outboard motor makin it capable of relatively higher speeds under power.\r\nIt is estimeated that more than 3600 Ventures/MacGregors have been built.\r\n\r\nThanks to Samuel Trickey for his help in getting something of the specs sorted out for different models.\r\n\r\nFrom 2013 - 2014, The MacGregor's daughter and son in law, Laura and Paul Sharp, continued to build an updated version of the MacGregor 26 called the Tattoo 26, in Stuart, Florida.
